Our Mission

MCC strives to improve the Madison community by providing low-cost, not-for-profit cooperative housing for very low- to moderate-income people and to be inclusive of underrepresented and marginalized groups.

MCC owns and operates 11 cooperative houses in the downtown and isthmus area of Madison. Our houses range in size from 7 to 35 people. Each house has its own unique character and feel.

Interested in joining a coop?

Membership in MCC's 11 cooperative houses is available on a voluntary basis to all people who can make use of its services and are willing to accept the responsibilities of membership. Each cooperative house in MCC follows a group living model, meaning that everyone has their own bedroom, and share common spaces such as kitchens, living rooms, and bathrooms with the other members of the house.

Hypatia is a fifteen person cooperative that is currently home to graduate and undergraduate students, workers, and professionals.

Internships available at MCC

MCC has two internships for the 2013-2014 year: the MCC Office Intern (5 hours/week) and the MCC Website Intern (10 hours/month).
Applications for both are due by May 29th, with a start date before July 1st.
